Wait until your baby shower guests show up and see the cute decorations youve created! Theyll think youve been shopping at a specialty store but youll know you made everything yourself! Okay, it might take a little bit of time to make all the decorations, but youll know you saved a fortune and youll really enjoy the crafts! Its easy and fun to make napkins, coasters and more that are shaped like baby clothes. Everyone at the shower will be very impressed! When making clothing-shaped napkins for the party its best to use ones that are thick. Napkins with a pattern are especially nice rather than creating all white clothes. Purchase all one pattern, so that all the clothing napkins look alike, or purchase different napkin patterns and make assorted outfits. Draw a template - or more than one template - to create the clothes. Or, trace around a baby doll outfit. The drawing doesnt have to be at all detailed. Cut out all the clothing and youll have the most unique baby shower napkins ever! Make clothing-shaped coasters by using even the cheapest napkins. Cut the clothing shapes, laminate them, then cut the laminate to the shape of the outfit. Dress, shorts or shirt shapes are the best choice for coaster designs. Coloring book pictures make great patterns for clothing coasters. Dont cut the outfit shape after the laminate is applied because, in doing so, the laminate can separate. Make the coasters more substantial by gluing a cardboard piece on the bottom. Cut it to the shape and size of the outfit.
Decorate the party room with baby clothes cut from paper. Scrapbook paper outfits are really cute but you can also cut clothing shapes from wrapping paper, printer paper, or even images from catalogs. Hang up a short clothesline and use mini clothes pins to hang the various garments. Hang some paper clothes and some real ones, as gifts, or just make them all paper and use as a decoration. Play a game where guests guess which outfit is the "winner". Write "winner" on the back of one of the paper outfits. Make sure the clothesline is hanging where no one can see the backsides of the garments.
Fold a piece of cardstock in half and cut out an outfit shape. The fold should be at the top of the outfit. Cut out the outfit but leave the fold. Write the guests name on one side of the outfit and use for a place marker. The cute shirts, dresses or other outfits make really unique markers that will add to the look of the decorated table. Use markers or pens to write the names or purchase stickers and affix the names to the cards. Decorate the table itself by creating different - or all the same - outfits to string around the edge. Simply tape or glue the outfits to a piece of yarn or string and wrap it around the perimeter of the food table. Or, just cut out the outfits and tape each individual shape to the edge of the table. Embellish the outfits with glitter glue, sequin, gold paint marker or even ribbons and bows. The outfits on a string dont have to be strictly for the food or gift tables. String them across the front door to spell out "Welcome" on the day of the shower. Or, string them around lampshades, wall mirrors or across a wall. If the food table is set up in the kitchen decorate the fridge and other appliances with the outfits by affixing them to magnetic sheeting. Youll find the sheeting at any craft store. Before the party even gets started youll need to send out invitations. If the gender of the baby is already known you can cut the little boys or little girls clothing shapes from cardstock to create the invitations. Make the outfits simply pink or blue, or create ones that have a pattern. Write the shower information in pen, marker or even paint markers. It might take a little time to make baby clothes napkins, decorations and invitations but youll have lots of fun creating them. Get the kids in on the action and let them cut out clothing or color in the outfits. Theyll have a great time helping and youll love the results!
